Location of Ob Luang Ob Luang, known as the gorge, is located in the Ob Luang National Park on Doi Luang, Hod District in Chiang Mai Province. It can be reached by using Chiang Mai-Mae Hong Son Highway and Ob Luang will be on the way.
Features of Ob Luang The area is the high mountain ranging from North to South and these are the part of the Thanon Thong Chai Mountain Range. The dense forest is the source of Mae Chaem and Mae Ping River (the lower part). It was discovered that this place was inhabited by the pre-historical people. So is has been the fertile area for a very long time.
Atmosphere of Ob Luang Some tourist make a visit to Ob Luang on their way to or back from Mae Hong Son by using Chiang Mai-Hod Highway. But Many people also plan to visit Ob Luang for the enjoyable activities like rafting in Mae Chaem River.

Highlights of Ob Luang
Ob Luang located at about 200m from the National Park, Ob Luang is the area of very high cliffs known as the gorge where Mae Chaem River passes to. The depth of the cliffs measuring from the bridge, is 32m. The narrowest portion is 2m and the overall length of the gorge is 300m. There is the bridge connecting the two cliffs of about 30m. This place is the amazing nature creation with look very long time for the erosion that could cut huge stones apart. So Mae Cheam is called “The river of the carved stone”, the symbol of Ob Luang National Park which is the magnificent natural phenomenon. It can not be found in anywhere else in this country.
There are also more tourist attractions besides Mae Cheam River. One is the Thep Phanom Hot Springs which is located about 14km from Ob Luang. There are about 15 hot springs at 99c with the hot and cool stream passing the area. Another interesting place is the archeological center at Ob Luang where many ancient artifacts of the pre-historical period were kept such as bronze bracelets, pottery, small beads, the tools of the Hobimian Period and the white and red painting at Pha Chang.
Facilities There are the camping area and facilities provided at Ob Luang National Park. Food and drink is also available.
